Soundart Festival is one of the most daring outdoors event in Romania. It will take place between the 4th and 7th of May, 2017, in the summer garden of Quantic Club.
The event will unite several branches of contemporary modern culture, live concerts, art symposiums, book launches, art exhibitions and workshops. The main goal of this project is to create new bridges between different forms of artistic expression.
As an event dedicated to contemporaneity, Soundart Festival vouches for the ingenuity of modern experimental music as a much needed result of the syncretic process.
The first three days of the festival will find their completion with a series of concerts by important bands that are in tune with the Stoner and Progressive Rock in Europe, alongside with Romanian bands.
The first bands that have been announced are Exivious (Holland), Stone Jesus (Ukraine), White Walls (Romania), Lowbau (Austria), Roadkillsoda (Romania), September Code (Greece), Wooldozer (Romania), Chaplin's Dream(Bulgaria), Groove Therapist (Greece), Risin Sabotage (UA), bands of an exceptional artistic expression, whose live shows truly provide the perfect recipe to capture and inspire the audience.
The Line Up
The sound of Exivious is hard to define; it operates in a space where metal meets fusion meets post-rock and still is none of the above. The band blends a wide variety of musical genres into a coherent, unified sound that’s driven by the incredible chemistry shared by the band members. The instrumental quartet consists of Tymon Kruidenier (ex-Cynic) and Michel Nienhuis (Dodecahedron) on guitars, Robin Zielhorst (ex-Cynic) on fretless bass and Yuma van Eekelen (ex-Pestilence, The New Dominion) on drums.
Stoned Jesus emerged as Igor Krobak’s side-project, dealing with the heavier and darker side of rock-music. Beginning with sludge and post-metal blueprints, it shaped into a full-time band, becoming musically closer to stoner rock and traditional doom metal in vein of early Black Sabbath, later days Electric Wizard and classic Sleep. SJ’s second demo, “Occult/Black Woods”, contains two fuzzy sabbathian epics filled with catchy riffs, Hendrix-like guitar solos and professional vocals.
Don’t try to label Nightstalker, it only makes them mad. Over the years they’ve been saddled with every label under the sun. In the 90’s it was grunge. After that it was Stoner Rock. And never try to call them a Greek Rock act. They play Rock music plain and simple and have been doing so to rave reviews for the past two decades. In a world full of bands that fracture at the first hint of a bad review, that splinter off into side projects and sub bands Nightstalker are what their new album professes, “As Above So Below.”
